Importance of Tawbah

May 25, 20235 min read

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud].

Introduction:

During your healing journey you will be haunted by ghosts of mistakes you made, immoralities and previous errors in dealing with people. These discrediting flashbacks are recognised in Psychology under name of the shame work. The mainstream’s therapist goal is to elevate the feelings of guild from your system in order for you to become a whole person again. Mastering the art of letting go , self-compassion and giving one self credits however does not guarantee the end of the self discovery journey. Sometimes it might feel like it is not enough for you. You might in fact find your self battling with another demons – depression and alienation. So why, even if you applied all the self care plan techniques it feels like something is still missing?

tawbah

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud].

It is most likely because, you have addressed only fraction of the layers of your wholeness, and forgot that your soul needs to be nourished. The Nafs being flexible and prone to evolvement, can aid the transformation of your manners (Adab) and characteristics (Akhlak). However if Nafs is under nourished it does not address the main conductor of your spirituality – the Qalb. The Spiritual Heart (Qalb) on it self manages emotional processing in relation to your relationships and self esteem, but it’s real potential lies in transcending you into spiritual realms. It is only at the stage of Healthy Heart that your behaviours become better, your emotional become stable and you reach the inner peace (Sakina) permanently. Activated Qalb gives a perspective to your shame work and guarantees recovery.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “All the sons of Adam are sinners, but the best of sinners are those who repent often.” (At·Tirmidhi)

In Arabic Tawbah means to regret and wish for reformations of own ways. Tawbah is not Nafs-centred, never! Regrets and inner blames and toxic shame are serving a divine purpose. Your negative emotions and sincere intentions of reformation are suppose to lead you towards God. Talking therapies are probably the most superior method supporting Tawbah work, as they aid you in making a sense of hidden aspect of your Soul. However , without spiritual aspect the psychotherapy is limited to your experiences and excludes most important aspect of your existence – Ibada. Know, that ultimately, it is Allah ST who needs to hear you and know that you resign to Him only, and rely on His Shifa, hope for His Mercy and rely on His Acceptance.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud].

This is probably the main difference between mainstream and religiously leaden approaches to talking therapies. We invite God’s Healing Powers in the process of recovery from inner-shame. Tawbah is probably one of the most intimate, difficult, dark and heavy elements of self-development – not doubt about it. However without that shadow work it is impossible for you to invest again in your light, your strengths, your potential. And it is your Ihsan - sincerity which will enable you to start new life, reinvent yourself, turn regrets into reminders. Your spiritual catharsis might make you feel surreal, lighten your chest and enable detachment from temporal relationships. And then suddenly, all past self-disappointing experiences in the Dunya become a turning points and they place you in a sacred journey of self-purification (Taskiya).

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Sometimes I perceive a veil over my heart, and I supplicate Allah for forgiveness a hundred times in a day.” (Muslim)

So even if it feels horribly and unbearably at times - remember that you are going through Tawbah for a reason. Try not to lose your focus and hold on to the promises of a new day, where new you takes the old world with a pinch of salt. Losing interest in old hobbies , passions and relationships will bring you closer to who you really are. Inshalah, this path of self-delineation will paradoxically allow you to see things for its true nature. Everything around you is worshiping God, and it will also become your inner-reality once you realise that He needs you in closer proximity. Tawbah is in fact an invitation, a gift , a divine right and sacred necessity for you to wake up. Tawbah is your turning point , your milestone, your salvation. Tawbah is His desired state for human Mind. You are therefore his favourite from all the people.

“ Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” (Quran, 2:222)

Why People Recommend Us

I highly recommend Aishah. She surprised me every week with her numerous strategies and she gave me just what I needed. She understood me well in such a short time and knew what I needed to hear. I was very confused as I had suffered a lot of traumas during my life and had never made sense of them. Aishah pointed out things that were hard to hear, but I knew were accurate. She is very professional and honest and now I am on the road of recovery. After only 6 sessions I feel that she has empowered me with the tools that I need to improve on myself, realising the purpose of the traumas, seeing the blessings within them and letting go. I now know what I need to do to become a better person. She recommended books that have been invaluable too. May Allah reward her abundantly Ameen.

Bismallah the most compassionate the most Merciful God… Working with Ayeisha was actually an answer for years of prayers and Subhan Allah it strengthens my faith about answering our Duaa in terms of how , when , where …etc.

But , I wish I have known her Ages ago. Being a councelling customer for nearly an year with Ayeisha now and seeing the dramatic changes of my mental , emotional and spiritual wellbeing the time arrived to deal with my physical health issues as they are all strongly connected… Subhan Allah being a doctor myself I couldn’t achieve healing and all of my career was about fixing disease and controlling the chronic illnesses and never aims for cure. Then under the guidance of my lovely Ayeisha my life has completely changed.. I really couldn’t believe that all of these improvements happened only over three weeks with small little steps every day until I achieved healing using the principles of Sunnah Wellness

Thank you for yesterday's session which I found highly effective and powerful.

I am finding self discovery not only enlightening but very comforting as well. I think if I am able to work with and improve some of the weaknesses and diseases of the heart that accompanies my choleric temperament I am confident that I shall be able to reach new heights with my marriage, personal and professional relationships.

Ayishah Your ability to SEE is astounding. The way you help people see themselves. It's really special.I already know I won't find what you offer anywhere. In the end noting will match up. I just know. Your course has been so beneficial and life changing for me I've literally gone without food to do it :) When I made Hajj. I wrote in my Duas:

Ya Rabb there must be an easier way to eat. Show me it! I actually prayed ya Rabb show me a way to feed this man easier food.... I didn't know the answer would be sending me you. Clean eating is healing. Fasting is healing. I'm not there yet. But inshaAllah I'm on the road.
