Stuck in a Rut

June 23, 20237 min read

"The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small." (Sahih Bukhari)

Introduction:

So you had meet the societal expectations by now, and graduated with a degree, had a job, a a career, a family, a house, a holiday routine but something is not filling in the spot in your hart. You are maybe even asking your self : why does it feel like I’m running on empty if I pray , give sadaka and fast? Maybe your inner waswas is even questioning the strength of your Iman and Muslim Identity. In simple words you doing you best, but it does not bring happiness inside.

rut

The moment of self realisation that something is missing in our daily routine, that there is something hindering our personal feel-good factor, that we somatically feel drained and mentally depress is probably the most promising in our life.  It is at this moment when we make decision to either caring on and grow into resentment, regrets and hopelessness or simply TRY something new and look for Solutions. No one explains to us that Dunya is full of opportunities to disillusion us from happiness pursuits and that it will only serve our development under certain conditions. "The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small." (Sahih Bukhari)

The wisdom of Islamic psychology suggests to us that that consistent and continuous efforts, even if they are small in magnitude, hold great value in the sight of Allah. It encourages believers to engage in consistent acts of worship, seeking knowledge, and positive actions, as they contribute to personal growth and bring one closer to Allah's love and blessings. How is it then , that it got you nowhere?

You have routine, and there is nothing haram or morally wrong with it but it is not bring results you have hoped for. You are stuck in a Rut. Breaking Free from the Rut in Sunnah Style is not easy to adopt at first, however the journey in it self brings immediate and instant soul gratification. This is one of the ayats - proves that working at the subconscious level is the only really holding method in personal development and spiritual health maintenance. You have not been looking in the right direction, you have forgotten the hidden secrets of working with your Soul.

You see all the subtle and heart lifting reminders about NAFS and consistency should build a inside of you a  perseverance and dedication in our endeavors to meet your Lord with a pure heart, And it is truth that no matter how small those Action (Amal) are they can have a profound impact on our spiritual and personal development. However, without a road map you are mor likely to get lost in translations and end up on a hamster wheel again.

1.     Self-Reflection: The Quran encourages believers to reflect on themselves and their actions. In Surah Al-Hashr (59:18), Allah says, "O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow..." This verse should encourage you to daily self introspect and evaluation of your actions, intentions, and the impact they may have on others and your eternal future. Self-reflection is a powerful tool for breaking free from negative patterns and seeking positive change.

2.     Seeking Knowledge: Islam places a high value on seeking knowledge. In Surah Al-Zumar (39:9), Allah says, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" This verse emphasizes the importance of knowledge and its role in personal growth and development. Sunnah encouraged seeking knowledge throughout his teachings, stating, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim." (Sunan Ibn Majah).Engaging in continuous learning broadens our horizons, provides new perspectives, and inspires positive change.

3.     Tawbah (Repentance): The concept of tawbah is central to Islamic psychology. The Quran repeatedly emphasizes the importance of repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah. In Surah Al-Tahrim (66:8), Allah says, "O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance..." Tawbah involves acknowledging our mistakes, feeling remorse, and making a sincere commitment to positive change. It is a means of Nafs evaluation but also of breaking free from the rut and rejuvenating our spiritual and emotional well-being.

4.     Establishing a Connection with Allah: Strengthening our relationship with Allah is essential in Islamic psychology. The Quran teaches us to turn to Allah in times of need and to seek His guidance. In Surah Al-Ghafir (40:60), Allah says, "And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'" Establishing a regular prayer routine, reciting the Quran, and engaging in supplication with conviction that they serve eternal purpose, Only in that way you giving your self a chance to deeply connect with Allah and find solace, guidance, and purpose in life.

5.     Stepping out of the Comfort Zone: Islam encourages believers to challenge themselves and embrace change. "Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in all things" (Sahih Muslim 1955). Stepping out of our comfort zones allows us to grow and break free from the monotony of our routines. It may involve learning new skills, volunteering for charitable causes, stepping out or taking on new responsibilities that contribute positively to society.

6.     Seeking Support from the Community: Islam emphasizes the importance of community and seeking support from others. "The believer to the believer is like a solid building, one part supports the other." Surrounding ourselves with a supportive community that shares similar goals and values can provide encouragement, motivation, and accountability on our journey of personal growth.

Why People Recommend Us

I highly recommend Aishah. She surprised me every week with her numerous strategies and she gave me just what I needed. She understood me well in such a short time and knew what I needed to hear. I was very confused as I had suffered a lot of traumas during my life and had never made sense of them. Aishah pointed out things that were hard to hear, but I knew were accurate. She is very professional and honest and now I am on the road of recovery. After only 6 sessions I feel that she has empowered me with the tools that I need to improve on myself, realising the purpose of the traumas, seeing the blessings within them and letting go. I now know what I need to do to become a better person. She recommended books that have been invaluable too. May Allah reward her abundantly Ameen.

Bismallah the most compassionate the most Merciful God… Working with Ayeisha was actually an answer for years of prayers and Subhan Allah it strengthens my faith about answering our Duaa in terms of how , when , where …etc.

But , I wish I have known her Ages ago. Being a councelling customer for nearly an year with Ayeisha now and seeing the dramatic changes of my mental , emotional and spiritual wellbeing the time arrived to deal with my physical health issues as they are all strongly connected… Subhan Allah being a doctor myself I couldn’t achieve healing and all of my career was about fixing disease and controlling the chronic illnesses and never aims for cure. Then under the guidance of my lovely Ayeisha my life has completely changed.. I really couldn’t believe that all of these improvements happened only over three weeks with small little steps every day until I achieved healing using the principles of Sunnah Wellness

Thank you for yesterday's session which I found highly effective and powerful.

I am finding self discovery not only enlightening but very comforting as well. I think if I am able to work with and improve some of the weaknesses and diseases of the heart that accompanies my choleric temperament I am confident that I shall be able to reach new heights with my marriage, personal and professional relationships.

Ayishah Your ability to SEE is astounding. The way you help people see themselves. It's really special.I already know I won't find what you offer anywhere. In the end noting will match up. I just know. Your course has been so beneficial and life changing for me I've literally gone without food to do it :) When I made Hajj. I wrote in my Duas:

Ya Rabb there must be an easier way to eat. Show me it! I actually prayed ya Rabb show me a way to feed this man easier food.... I didn't know the answer would be sending me you. Clean eating is healing. Fasting is healing. I'm not there yet. But inshaAllah I'm on the road.
